Client: Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company
Project Type: New Fire Station and Assembly Hall
Project Size: 26,000 SF
Completion: 1995
Our Role: Architect:  Full A/E Services as Principal-in-Charge with another firm.
Project Description:
The Abingdon Fire Company is equipped with five drive through apparatus bays, a gear room, bunk rooms, a day room, a training room, a radio room, and other ancillary operational spaces. The lower level of the facility is used as an assembly hall, which was developed at the maximum size allowed by zoning codes.  Located on the upper level of the station are administrative offices and a board room.  Some of the major site issues involved sewer access, wetlands, zoning issues, and sloping topography. Through careful design and use all of the site area available, the design team developed a facility that has the ability to expand in the future.
